Response to Ngugi`s experience

In Ngugi’s context, English is the most important factor for chidren to take education for their life.english is as "the invisible and invincible factor for their life in korea".
On these days in the same phenomenan, we, Korean students, are for them to struggle for holding their life up not only in educational situation but also in their own perspectives for decoding their own life. they should study english for getting the job or promoting in a company and they sometimes consider their own life with only english philosophy, which can be made by english education.
our students are koeans with our own philosophy over a hundreds of years in our own history but overwhelmed by english educatuon such as english literature or text book, students easliy decode thier life with the other thinking system. how dangerous it is! this is as an virus undermining our body when we are sick.

from time to time, i am so afrraid of its existence and its effects to me and my students. what if did not i have the balance between korean and english, what if was i on the stance of only one, can i keep and conserve my originality as a korean?
that is why i should study this class and be awaken at all time!!

The provocative cover image …
People who see this picture have debate what is the intention of “TIME”.
Some have agreed this and others have disagreed this.
Which group would be right? I do not know but interested by the power of just a picture shown in a magazine. I just want to have the right to cast doubt on this, which maybe can make me be critical.

Reading media text

From the time to time, subconsciously, people seem to look at things with color definition.  Imagine there is a cup of coffee in front of you, what colors come first to your mind? Probably, you will say that it is black coffee in a white cup. Why? Is there not another color of the cup? No there are but your mind already have been affected by a hundreds of images that can control your recognition for the color of things you look from your birth.
In this ad, there are a black man and a white woman together, which can form the image of coffee in the cup like a Latte. I think that their skin colors represent the color of coffee and milk. Under the woman, a black man makes the basement and above the man, the girl makes decoration of the coffee. This is the typical coffee color so I do not want to blame this ad but what I doubt of this is that why do black color can be represented with a man, or be represented with a woman? Why? There are also white men, black women, or fresh men and women over the world!!! I think that he who makes this ad may have the bias and prejudice of Skin colors of people. What if do the black man be replaced with a black woman? What if the white woman be changed into the white man? Do it have the serious problems for promoting this ad to the people?
I do not think so. Rather it will be more attractive to the people who see that ad due to its new challenge! During writing this article in a starbucks coffee shop, I think that maybe do I also have the bias or prejudice for the colors of things that I imagine? How poor my mind is… I dream the dream that I can be awaken at any moments so that be critical in my life.

i want to be a person who is not influenced by mass media or external factors around myself.
that is.... change me ... from  being a person composed by institutions or srtuctures such as governments and groups to being a person composing them....

applying critical pedagogies to korean education situations

i think korean teachers who are teaching english in public schools in korea has many constraints by the education policies from the Minisry of Education of korea for them to apply critical pedagogies to their own classes. authorities always says " the curriculum here is set. it is proven...this remined me of Nolan in the DEAD POETS SOCIETY.....

as shown above, this is a korean style but i think that despite this situation, Dialogue Method can be applied in this setting. to put this Method in effect, first, teachers have to have open-minded and widened sight for their students. second, they can put this Method if they have good relationship with their students not only in the classroom but also out of the classroom thinking them as a whole -person
respectly.of course, this ,thought, is just considered in a teacher`s competence and duties.
PS:i imagine that if all teachers who teach english in korea be John Keating, students who around us      can be very happy.

reflection on Korea`s proofreading woes

As Micheal Foucault said,,, we are not from the same planet, this means I think we all have the different point of view so that If one who have the critical point of view see a thing as this, others who are straightforward see a thing as that. I think this situation which is not strange at all in korea could be understandable because also language has the sociality which even can make the literally ungrammaticl expression acceptable if people who are relevant to the specific situation  nod.
in sum, if you have intention to making all english expression correc, you can do it. but if you do not have interest with that kind of  things, you do not have to this because someone like an author of this article can change the world as they effort.
